As Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Bauwens is responsible for legal, financial, human resources, and operations management. Dr. Bauwens has significant involvement in proposal and protocol development, educational programming, and professional services. He also coordinated the development of a state-of-the-art computerized communications and data transfer system throughout the organization.
Dr. Bauwens has 25 years of experience in the clinical, administrative, and strategic aspects of the long-term care/senior care markets. He has been instrumental in developing and maintaining programs and services in education, strategic planning, database management, and consulting services in this healthcare segment.
Before joining the organization in 1989, Dr. Bauwens was Director of Clinical Services for a large LTC Pharmacy Provider in South Bend, Indiana, and served eight years on the faculty for the School of Pharmacy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Bauwens is nationally recognized in the fields of geriatrics and consultant pharmacy practice, having lectured on a variety of long-term care topics. Dr. Bauwens has also published extensively in medical and pharmacy journals and in textbooks on metabolic bone disease and geriatric pharmacotherapy.
Dr. Bauwens received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Creighton University and his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Utah. He is a member and fellow of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP), the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists (ASHP), and the American Geriatrics Society (AGS). |
